Hello and Season’s Greetings everyone out there in Radioland. Hope you are staying warm and catching up with the ones you love and enjoying whatever you celebrate. In my family, if you do something once, it becomes a tradition. Some of them are great and some of them I wonder why we do them, but it’s all about making memories.
2017 was an exciting year for us here at Go Green Tax. Launching a business is an incredibly challenging, but equally rewarding experience. To borrow from the Chinese Philosopher Laozi, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” From the office buildout, to developing system processes, to rolling out a website, to getting through tax season, to growing the team and now gearing up for round 2, it has been an absolute whirlwind.
We met some incredible people and processed over 330 returns during our first year in business! We added two new team members and went from our initial build out of one office, to now three offices. We donated nearly $2,000 to various charities, many of them dear to our hearts, but other individual write ins by people excited that a portion of their tax prep fee was going to a charity they are passionate about.
We were incredibly lucky to have the first employee of GGT, be such a gem. Samantha has been instrumental in our first year being such a success. In addition to building out the website and taking on our workflows and systems, Samantha took the 80 hours of required education for Oregon and passed the Oregon Licensed Tax Preparer program and will be helping with returns this year.
Another fortuitous happening has been the developing partnership between Stefanie and myself. Stefanie has been in business for more than a decade as an Accountant and Tax Preparer. Her office was just down the street, and I reached out last year as a source of potential referrals and the relationship bloomed into a true partnership and we are thrilled to have a full-time Accountant here as a resource.
Last, but not least, we are pleased to announce a very new addition to the team, Natchra (pronounced like Natural, but “Ra”, instead of “Al” at the end). Natchra has stepped into the role of Office Manager, as well as grinding out client’s books. Already in her first week, she has managed to grind out a long-term bookkeeping project that a client needed for a business loan. We’re very thankful to have her on the team.
As we close our doors to bring in the New Year, we want to take the opportunity to thank all of you that helped Go Green Tax have such a successful year. As a way to show our appreciation, we are going to honor last year's pricing for any returns we file for returning clients. With our focus on staying green, we have moved to more a more automated scheduling system. If and when you are ready to schedule, just use our online calendar to choose a time that works best for you.
We hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday weekend as they bring in the New Year!
